In line with our commitment to sustainability, Nettlesmart focuses on local and emissions-free production within the EU, particularly in processing fibers and cellulose from nettles and other plants like flax and hemp. By harnessing these natural resources, we minimize the environmental impact associated with traditional cotton production. Through advanced techniques, we extract fibers and cellulose, which serve as the foundation for a range of eco-friendly products, including textiles, papers, and bioplastics. Nettlesmart leverages lignin for a myriad of eco-conscious applications, including bioplastics, renewable energy, and water-resistant coatings. Our innovative processes drive clean carbon production and propel nanotechnology. By repurposing lignin, a natural byproduct, we foster sustainability, advancing towards a greener future. A significant breakthrough is our first-generation lignin coating, revolutionizing paper strength, with the potential to increase load-bearing capacity by 20 to 230 times, particularly beneficial for aerospace and drone manufacturing, offering lightweight yet robust materials. NettleSmart is a startup founded in 2022 with a small angel investor and a grant from EIT Climate-KIC, rooted in a history that stretches far beyond. Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, our CEO & founder contemplated ways to aid our allies. We began exploring our potencial with food and, after a year and a half, transitioned to composite materials and the utilization of lignin for aerospace and drone manufacturing.
Currently, we are accepting orders for food production, syrup, medicinal components, lignin thermally activated penetration, and nettle fiber and fabric. Concurrently, we are seeking investors to help us rapidly initiate mass production and continue our research to refine our formulations.
